Applying ADDIE to Podcast Development
In 2020, as the pandemic forced many families to juggle remote school and work, I recognized an urgent need for educational entertainment for children. To address this, I created Story On, a podcast designed to captivate young minds and provide parents with much-needed respite.
Analysis: I researched the children’s podcast market to identify gaps. I conducted interviews with children and parents, and aligned my findings with Common Core standards and public school curricula. This thorough analysis confirmed that a podcast focused on storytelling elements would be both engaging and educational.
Design: I crafted clear objectives for the overall course and broke them down for each episode. I wrote original episode scripts, developed a marketing strategy, and established a social media presence to promote the podcast.
Development: I recorded and edited episodes, incorporating sound effects and music to enhance the listening experience. I also created social media content and joined podcasting networks to broaden the reach of Story On.
Implementation and Evaluation: Upon publishing the first episodes, I actively promoted Story On to families and gathered feedback through interviews. This allowed me to make continuous improvements to the show.
Within a few months, Story On reached a remarkable milestone, with downloads ranking in the top five percent of podcasts globally.
